By 5pm on 13 September 2021, the Western Cape Government had administered a cumulative total of 2 423 362 vaccines to healthcare workers, staff in the education sector and those within eligible age brackets.

The current 7-day moving average is 65 deaths per day.

Western Cape Government welcomes vaccinations of Chrysalis Academy students 

Today, Chrysalis Academy has begun vaccinating 31 students from the new intake, who have chosen to get vaccinated at DP Marais Hospital. The process of vaccinating students will be ongoing over the next two days and will further include 7 youth instructors and one staff member.

It is encouraging to note that 28 students had already been vaccinated before arriving at Chrysalis and will receive their second dose at a later stage while completing the 3-month residential programme.

I joined Minister Albert Fritz in commending Chrysalis Academy, under the leadership of its CEO, Dr Lucille Meyer, for playing their part in ensuring that the young people in the programme receive a vaccine opportunity in a safe and conveniently located setting.

I encourage those who have not yet gotten vaccinated to register on the Electronic Vaccine Data System where they will be allocated an appointment time and date.

Registration is simple and can be done by:
